  1. 01

Can a letter really reach them, and how fast?

    편지가 정말 도착하나요? 얼마나 걸리나요?

Yes, in days rather than weeks. We print your letter on real paper, address it to the facility and send it next business day by tracked express (익일특급). After the facility’s mail check, it is usually in their hands 3–5 business days after we send it.

  2. 02

I don’t know their inmate number.

    수용번호를 몰라도 되나요?

That’s fine. Their full name, nationality and facility are enough. You choose the facility from a list when you add them.

  3. 03

    Can I send photos?

    사진도 보낼 수 있나요?

Yes. Photos go inside your letter at no extra cost. Choose colour printing ($30) so they arrive as they were taken; black and white is $20.

  4. 04

    How do they write back?

    답장은 어떻게 하나요?

Every envelope includes a page in their language explaining how to reply, plus cut-out address labels for our Seoul office. Writing back is free for them; they only need a stamp, and the reply never leaves Korea.

  5. 05

How do I get their reply?

    답장은 어떻게 받나요?

We scan it, usually within three working days of it arriving, and it appears in your inbox. The paper original is destroyed after scanning.

그 밖의 질문

How much can one envelope hold?
Up to 3 documents and 40 pages in total: your letter, plus any documents you upload. Photos inside your letter are part of the letter.
Do I see what will be printed?
Yes. Before you pay, you see the exact pages we will print. If something looks wrong, you can change it first.
Is there a subscription?
No. You pay per envelope when you send it. There is nothing to cancel.
Do they need to sign up for anything?
No. They write on paper and post it to our Seoul office. There is no app or account on their side.
When is the best time to send?
Pay on a weekday before noon Korea time and your letter is delivered to the facility the next working day; after noon it takes a day longer, and letters paid for between Friday afternoon and Sunday are delivered on Tuesday. The facility then hands it over. For their reply, a letter they post on a Monday usually reaches you by Friday.
Will the facility read my letter?
Korean law says inmates’ letters are not read, with exceptions (형집행법, Article 43). The facility may open a letter to check for prohibited items. Staff may read it only if the sender can’t be identified, a court has ordered it, there is good reason to suspect it breaks the law or threatens the facility’s safety, or it is between inmates. A letter can be held back if it is written in code, could destroy evidence of a crime, breaks the law, states something clearly false about the facility, or invades someone’s privacy; the facility must then tell the inmate why. Every other letter must be handed over promptly.
